Since their first show (September 2008), Covendetta has struggled through countless member changes, including (but not limited to) 4.5 guitarists, 4 bass players, 3 screamers, 3 drummers, and 1 miscellaneous. Within that time, James Belliston (keys/vocals) was the only unchanged, original member of Covendetta. However, due to personal differences/disagreements, he has decided to leave the band. No further information has been released on whether or not Covendetta will continue to play shows.

For those of you who follow James‘ other projects, we will not suffer a shortage of shows. As of right now, his main focus is being shifted to his acoustic solo project, with the possibility of returning to the hardcore scene at a later time.

With everything that we achieved, and everyone that we were fortunate enough to influence… there was always a reason to keep it going. But we live and we learn, and we realize that quitting is not always the same as giving up. That your dreams are worth more than the reward of selling out. And that you are the only one that knows your true potential. I may not ever become world-famous, but my passion for this is real, and nothing (short of my breath) will ever change that. I guess that’s what separates a musician from an artist. I want to thank everyone who has, and will continue to support me in my music. I can only hope that it will influence you, as much as you inspire me.”

And those of you who know our history, know that we’ve had more than our fair share of changes. Due to personal reasons, Darin Ferguson will no longer be playing bass with Covendetta. You may have also heard that our vocalist (screams) Justin Stanford is joining the National Guard, and will be absent for the next 6 months. He is planning to rejoin upon his return.

Over the next few weeks, we will be holding tryouts. We’re looking for a permanent bass player and a temporary screamer that meet the following requirements:

- Awesome
- Talented
- Good Gear
- Reliable Source Of Income
- Flexible Schedule
- Self-Motivated
- Responsible

We are willing to try out as many as needed, but please contact us ONLY if you are serious about pursuing this. It takes a lot of dedication, and a lot more work than we’re given credit for. But that’s what it takes, and we’re determined to make it happen.

As expected, the show was overflowing and nearly sold out. You may have heard that Joshua Moore (guitarist for We Came As Romans) was hospitalized with Bacterial Meningitis and was unable to play the show. This resulted in a last minute line-up change where We Came As Romans, The Word Alive, Woe, Is Me, and Texas In July dropped off last minute. But the show must go on. Lions Lions and Hands Of the Martyr jumped on, and helped to maintain the unforgettable night. We wish Joshua a speedy recovery as they plan to rejoin the tour in a couple days.

Let’s be honest. If you missed We Came As Romans during their very first tour through Utah (Leave It To The Suits Tour ’09), that’s just bad luck. If you missed them when they came through again last May (Welcome To The Circus Tour ’10), that’s just REALLY bad luck. But if you choose to miss them again, on their most recent headlining tour (Rock Yourself To Sleep Tour ’11)… that’s just bad judgment. I personally suggest marking your calendars and getting tickets now. Before they sell out. Before it’s too late, and you realize that the self-inflicted regret that you’re feeling is the world’s way of telling you, “Covendetta told you so!” Those of you who HAVE had the opportunity of seeing them in concert… enough said. You know what you’re in store for, so I’ll see you there.

Along with the symphonic metal main course of We Came As Romans, be sure to save room for the rest of the lineup, consisting of none other than For Today (as seen on Scream The Prayer ’10), The Word Alive, Woe, Is Me, Texas In July, and Utah’s own I Capture Castle. We plan to party, and party we shall. Party like it’s 2011, because 2010 is soon to be out of style.

We’re talking 8 hours of havoc extravaganza, consisting of Utah’s best chugtastic happy hardcore and metallic metal. Not to mention, the always loveable Chelsea Grin. (You don’t need our permission to party, but if it makes you feel better, we will allow it.) Expect nothing less than Utah’s best hardcore entertainment, from one of Utah’s best venues. You’re in for a real treat. A treat so delicious it’s scary.

Doors open early, and music will be done by 9:00PM so the kids can go trick-or-treating. Due to the holiday, costumes are encouraged, but we won’t haze you if you decide to be yourself. Tickets are $7 in advance, and $9 at the door. Play it safe and contact us for tickets, because this show is likely to sell out. I’ll say this now… you don’t want to miss our set. Why, you ask? Thanks to YOUR votes on Ernie Ball’s BattleOfTheBands.com, Covendetta was given the opportunity to play Vans Warped Tour for their second consecutive year. Nearly 200 Utah bands, and 12,000 bands nationwide competed for a spot to play their home town in 2010. Covendetta was selected to play in Salt Lake City, along with Fire In The Skies, The Sakai Incident, Hotel On Baltic, and Written In Fire. To sum it up, the Tupac ShaTour was quite the vacation away from home. There was a bit of bad luck thrown around, but the gang fights and drive-bys were kept to a minimum. We made it back in one piece. Seems as though the worst injury was James‘ sliver infection caused by our cliff decent in Cali. Cost him a few hours in the emergency room and a $10 double-parking ticket, but luckily the doctor was able to save the hand… I mean, what would tour be without a little bronchitis, or a prestigious one-and-a-half-star hospital visit? To make the deal even sweeter, our good friends Josh Nemcek and Kurt Michelson joined us on our notorious west coast endeavor. They were asked to fill in on guitar and drums during Chris and Jimmy‘s absence (August 8th-August 10th). Unfortunately, we were unable to play these last 3 shows, and closed the tour in Salt Lake City, tearing up the Ernie Ball Stage, at Vans Warped Tour 2010. Due to these cancellations, the tour was shorter than we would have liked, but hardcore (for sure) nonetheless.

For the sake of not leaving anyone out, the following bands simply ‘rock’. They played with us during our tour, but were not mentioned in the original post. So here they are. August 1st – Ride The Horse, The Black Tie Rebels, Pixikill, and Peter Black; August 2nd – Chasing The Wind
Unfortunately, The Chicago Outfit and Still A Dying Day weren’t able to make it on August 5th in Reno. Go check them out and tell them that they were missed. And there’s the news from the cruise. We will do what we can to throw together the footage from the road, but it may be inappropriate for all ages… If it ever makes it to theaters (or youtube), view with caution. No guarantees though. Still working on the last video I promised ya. Anyways, keep checking back. If you took pictures from the Tupac ShaTour, and want to be in our fan album, send them over!

We were lucky enough to jump on the last few days of the infamous Tupac ShaTour with our buddies Monsters Scare You! Although they are heading home after the show in Reno (August 5th), Covendetta is picking up the remainder of the tour (through August 10th). Hopefully this east-coast, west-coast rivalry died with Tupac, cause I don’t feel like getting shot today. I guess Monsters Scare You! made it out alive.

This will be Covendetta’s second west-coast tour, adding California and Nevada to our list of stops. As you can see, the Salt Lake City Vans Warped Tour falls smack dab within our tour schedule. And thanks to your votes, we will be coming back and playing the Ernie Ball Stage for the second year in a row! This adds special tour appearances such as Mayday Parade, Closure In Moscow, Emarosa, Eyes Set To Kill, Automatic Loveletter, The Sparring, and Riverboat Gamblers. For those of you who are unable to make it up to Salt Lake City, no need to worry. The Tupac ShaTour is full of historic venues, music video shoots, home coming parties, and awesome bands that are bound to get your feet moving. If you can make an appearance at any one of these shows, you won’t miss out on the party. And if you see us high rollin’ in our ‘District Of Covendetta’ school bus, make sure and come say what’s up.
